# PING vs Golf Magazine

The clearest difference is rating: Golf Magazine at 4.8 against PING's 2.1. Golf Magazine also leads on ratings volume (660 vs 94). PING's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 34) and review sentiment (31% vs 18%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Golf Magazine sells 34 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. PING asks for nothing beyond the download.

Golf Magazine holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Golf Magazine has 660 ratings behind it against 94, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of PING's written reviews are positive against 18% of Golf Magazine's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PING ships an update every 3 months, Golf Magazine every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
