# PING vs Golf Genius

The clearest difference is rating: Golf Genius at 4.8 against PING's 2.0. Golf Genius also leads on ratings volume (69K vs 93) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). PING's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Golf Genius holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Golf Genius has 69K ratings behind it against 93, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of PING's written reviews are positive against 26% of Golf Genius's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PING ships an update every 3 months, Golf Genius every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on July 6, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
