# Just Paint vs MapGenie

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MapGenie at 100% against Just Paint's 27%. MapGenie also leads on ratings volume (54 vs 1). Just Paint's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 37 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Just Paint asks for nothing beyond the download.

Just Paint holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MapGenie has 54 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of Just Paint's written reviews are positive against 100% of MapGenie's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Just Paint ships an update every 6 months, MapGenie every 37 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
