# Brainscape vs ODEMSA

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ODEMSA at none against Brainscape's 4. ODEMSA also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.6). Brainscape's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 34 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. ODEMSA asks for nothing beyond the download.

ODEMSA holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 21K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Brainscape ships an update every 3 weeks, ODEMSA every 34 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
