# Brainscape vs Vaia

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Brainscape at 22K against Vaia's 1.6K. Brainscape also leads on chart position (#196 vs unranked). Vaia's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and Vaia sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Brainscape against 4.7 for Vaia. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 22K ratings behind it against 1.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 82% and 81% positive.

Brainscape ships an update every 3 weeks, Vaia weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
