# Brainscape vs UpperMark eReader

The clearest difference is rating: Brainscape at 4.8 against UpperMark eReader's 4.0. Brainscape also leads on ratings volume (22K vs 1) and chart position (#195 vs unranked). UpperMark eReader's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (100% vs 82%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. UpperMark eReader asks for nothing beyond the download.

Brainscape holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 22K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Brainscape's written reviews are positive against 100% of UpperMark eReader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Brainscape ships an update every 3 weeks, UpperMark eReader every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
