# Brainscape vs SwiftGrade

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SwiftGrade at none against Brainscape's 4. SwiftGrade also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 82%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.6). Brainscape's advantage is ratings volume (22K vs 11) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. SwiftGrade asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Brainscape against 4.9 for SwiftGrade. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 22K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of Brainscape's written reviews are positive against 100% of SwiftGrade's.

Brainscape ships an update every 3 weeks, SwiftGrade every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
