# Brainscape vs Memoshift

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Memoshift at none against Brainscape's 4. Memoshift also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 83%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). Brainscape's advantage is ratings volume (22K vs 2) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Memoshift asks for nothing beyond the download.

Brainscape holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 22K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Brainscape's written reviews are positive against 100% of Memoshift's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
