# Brainscape vs SC

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Brainscape at 22K against SC's 1. Brainscape also leads on chart position (#180 vs unranked). SC's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and SC sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SC holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 22K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Brainscape ships an update every 3 weeks, SC every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
