# Templates for Numbers vs Microsoft Word

The clearest difference is update cadence: Microsoft Word at weekly against Templates for Numbers's every 2 months. Microsoft Word also leads on ratings volume (3M vs 37) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Templates for Numbers's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Templates for Numbers sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Microsoft Word sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Microsoft Word holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Word has 3M ratings behind it against 37, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Templates for Numbers's written reviews are positive against 37% of Microsoft Word's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Templates for Numbers ships an update every 2 months, Microsoft Word weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
