# VPN Hotspot Shield vs SuperVPN

The clearest difference is ads: VPN Hotspot Shield at none against SuperVPN's shown. VPN Hotspot Shield also leads on ratings volume (365K vs 3.7K) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). SuperVPN's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Hotspot Shield sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and SuperVPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for VPN Hotspot Shield against 4.6 for SuperVPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Hotspot Shield has 365K ratings behind it against 3.7K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 76% and 75% positive.

VPN Hotspot Shield ships an update weekly, SuperVPN every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
