# Minesweeper X vs Minesweeper

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Minesweeper at none against Minesweeper X's 4. Minesweeper also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (75% vs 48%). Minesweeper X's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (monthly vs every 8 months). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Minesweeper X sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Minesweeper asks for nothing beyond the download.

Minesweeper X holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Minesweeper X has 164 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Minesweeper X's written reviews are positive against 75% of Minesweeper's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Minesweeper X ships an update monthly, Minesweeper every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
