# Waterloo Region Record vs Canada Press

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Canada Press at 59% against Waterloo Region Record's 10%. Canada Press also leads on ratings volume (55 vs 4) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). Waterloo Region Record's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 12 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Waterloo Region Record sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Canada Press sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Waterloo Region Record holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Canada Press has 55 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 10% of Waterloo Region Record's written reviews are positive against 59% of Canada Press's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Waterloo Region Record ships an update every 2 weeks, Canada Press every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
