# viewshape vs Animatoon

The clearest difference is review sentiment: viewshape at 83% against Animatoon's 43%. viewshape also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and iOS requirement (8.1 vs 11.0). Animatoon's advantage is rating (3.1 vs 2.7) and ratings volume (405 vs 3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Animatoon sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. viewshape asks for nothing beyond the download.

Animatoon holds the better App Store score, 3.1 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Animatoon has 405 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of viewshape's written reviews are positive against 43% of Animatoon's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

viewshape ships an update every 4 months, Animatoon every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 9, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
