# Books I Have Read vs Hooked

The clearest difference is price: Hooked at Free against Books I Have Read's $0.99. Hooked also leads on rating (4.2 vs 2.5) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 7 months). Books I Have Read's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and review sentiment (47% vs 24%). On ads, chart position, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Hooked holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hooked has 14K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Books I Have Read's written reviews are positive against 24% of Hooked's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
