# Magical Rays vs Go Particles

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Magical Rays at none against Go Particles's 16. Magical Rays also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Go Particles's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 8 months) and rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Go Particles sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Magical Rays asks for nothing beyond the download.

Go Particles holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Go Particles has 2.1K ratings behind it against 208, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Magical Rays's written reviews are positive against 77% of Go Particles's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Magical Rays ships an update every 8 months, Go Particles every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
