# Dimmer vs Lux Light Meter Pro

The clearest difference is rating: Lux Light Meter Pro at 3.9 against Dimmer's 2.7. Lux Light Meter Pro also leads on ratings volume (5.2K vs 406). Dimmer's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (42% vs 21%). On price, update cadence, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lux Light Meter Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Dimmer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Lux Light Meter Pro holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lux Light Meter Pro has 5.2K ratings behind it against 406, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Dimmer's written reviews are positive against 21% of Lux Light Meter Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
