# NetGuard vs VPN Prime

The clearest difference is rating: VPN Prime at 4.5 against NetGuard's 2.8. VPN Prime also leads on review sentiment (77% vs 44%) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). NetGuard's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 16.4). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Prime sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. NetGuard asks for nothing beyond the download.

VPN Prime holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Prime has 3.4K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.
