# iFox Browser vs Gear

The clearest difference is rating: Gear at 4.0 against iFox Browser's 3.3. Gear also leads on review sentiment (56% vs 17%) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 6 months). iFox Browser's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iFox Browser sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Gear sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Gear holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gear has 251 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 17% of iFox Browser's written reviews are positive against 56% of Gear's.

iFox Browser ships an update every 6 months, Gear every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
