# Edge magazine vs Hi

The clearest difference is monetization model: Edge magazine at free with in-app purchases against Hi's subscription. Edge magazine also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.6). Hi's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 46%). On price, rating, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Edge magazine sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Hi sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Edge magazine against 4.6 for Hi. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 134 and 329 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 46% of Edge magazine's written reviews are positive against 80% of Hi's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
