# Flash Fiction Prompter vs Campfire

The clearest difference is rating: Campfire at 4.3 against Flash Fiction Prompter's 3.8. Campfire also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 12 months) and ratings volume (197 vs 12). Flash Fiction Prompter's advantage is review sentiment (73% vs 44%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Campfire holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Campfire has 197 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Flash Fiction Prompter's written reviews are positive against 44% of Campfire's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Flash Fiction Prompter ships an update every 12 months, Campfire fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
