# New Republic vs Johnson County Post

The clearest difference is rating: New Republic at 4.7 against Johnson County Post's 3.9. New Republic also leads on ratings volume (2.6K vs 7) and chart position (#193 vs unranked). Johnson County Post's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and review sentiment (50% vs 36%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. New Republic sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Johnson County Post asks for nothing beyond the download.

New Republic holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: New Republic has 2.6K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of New Republic's written reviews are positive against 50% of Johnson County Post's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
