# PDF Pro vs Read+ PDF Reader

The clearest difference is monetization model: Read+ PDF Reader at free with in-app purchases against PDF Pro's subscription. Read+ PDF Reader also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). PDF Pro's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (6.9K vs 7). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Pro sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Read+ PDF Reader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Pro has 6.9K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of PDF Pro's written reviews are positive against 67% of Read+ PDF Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Pro ships an update every 2 months, Read+ PDF Reader every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and August 31, 2026 respectively.
