# PDF Pro vs UPDF

The clearest difference is monetization model: UPDF at free with in-app purchases against PDF Pro's subscription. UPDF also leads on review sentiment (84% vs 60%) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). PDF Pro's advantage is ratings volume (6.9K vs 678). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Pro sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and UPDF sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for PDF Pro against 4.6 for UPDF. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Pro has 6.9K ratings behind it against 678, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 60% of PDF Pro's written reviews are positive against 84% of UPDF's.

PDF Pro ships an update every 2 months, UPDF fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
