# PDF Pro vs PDF Editor

The clearest difference is monetization model: PDF Editor at free with in-app purchases against PDF Pro's subscription. PDF Editor also leads on iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). PDF Pro's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and review sentiment (60% vs 33%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Pro sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and PDF Editor sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Pro has 6.9K ratings behind it against 57, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 60% of PDF Pro's written reviews are positive against 33% of PDF Editor's.

PDF Pro ships an update every 2 months, PDF Editor every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 11, 2026.
