# Mahjong vs Mahjong Trails

Mahjong and Mahjong Trails both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 63% of Mahjong's written reviews are positive against 31% of Mahjong Trails's. Mahjong also leads on ratings volume (33K vs 602). Mahjong Trails's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mahjong sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per year and Mahjong Trails sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Mahjong against 4.5 for Mahjong Trails. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mahjong has 33K ratings behind it against 602, so its average is the more settled of the two.
