# DrinkControl vs BoozeBuddy

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: BoozeBuddy at none against DrinkControl's 13. BoozeBuddy also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.4). DrinkControl's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (4.4K vs 60). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DrinkControl sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. BoozeBuddy asks for nothing beyond the download.

BoozeBuddy holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DrinkControl has 4.4K ratings behind it against 60, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of DrinkControl's written reviews are positive against 92% of BoozeBuddy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DrinkControl ships an update every 3 weeks, BoozeBuddy every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
