# Scientific Calc vs Calculator Smart

The clearest difference is price: Calculator Smart at Free against Scientific Calc's $1.99. Calculator Smart also leads on rating (4.7 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (498 vs 3). Scientific Calc's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On update cadence there is nothing between them.

Calculator Smart is free to download; Scientific Calc costs $1.99 up front. Calculator Smart sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Scientific Calc asks for nothing beyond the download.

Calculator Smart holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Calculator Smart has 498 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Scientific Calc's written reviews are positive against 36% of Calculator Smart's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scientific Calc ships an update every 5 months, Calculator Smart every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
