# Prey vs Cerberus

The clearest difference is rating: Prey at 4.6 against Cerberus's 2.7. Prey also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (4.1K vs 7). Cerberus's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prey sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year and Cerberus sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Prey holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prey has 4.1K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 57% and 57% positive.

Prey ships an update every 4 weeks, Cerberus every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
