# Prey vs Clap Detector

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Prey at 57% against Clap Detector's 11%. Prey also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.0) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prey sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year and Clap Detector sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Prey holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prey has 4K ratings behind it against 245, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 57% of Prey's written reviews are positive against 11% of Clap Detector's.

Prey ships an update every 4 weeks, Clap Detector fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
