# Google News vs MRTV

The clearest difference is rating: Google News at 4.6 against MRTV's 3.7. Google News also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 10 months) and ratings volume (226K vs 6). MRTV's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Google News holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google News has 226K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 18% of Google News's written reviews are positive against 0% of MRTV's.

Google News ships an update monthly, MRTV every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
