# Pre vs Khan Academy

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Khan Academy at none against Pre's 1. Khan Academy also leads on ratings volume (113K vs 360) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 6 months). Pre's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pre sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Khan Academy asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Pre against 4.6 for Khan Academy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Khan Academy has 113K ratings behind it against 360, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 67% of Pre's written reviews are positive against 74% of Khan Academy's.

Pre ships an update every 6 months, Khan Academy every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
