# Pre vs Middle School Algebra

The clearest difference is rating: Pre at 4.7 against Middle School Algebra's 3.6. Pre also leads on ratings volume (357 vs 117). Middle School Algebra's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pre sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and Middle School Algebra sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Pre's written reviews are positive against 70% of Middle School Algebra's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Pre ships an update every 6 months, Middle School Algebra every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
