# Pre vs ACT Math

Pre and ACT Math both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of ACT Math's written reviews are positive against 67% of Pre's. ACT Math also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Pre's advantage is ratings volume (357 vs 18) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 11 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pre sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and ACT Math sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Pre against 4.7 for ACT Math. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pre has 357 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 67% of Pre's written reviews are positive against 100% of ACT Math's.

Pre ships an update every 6 months, ACT Math every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
