# Pre vs Fraction for Beginners

The clearest difference is ads: Pre at none against Fraction for Beginners's shown. Pre also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (360 vs 7). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pre sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and Fraction for Beginners sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pre holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pre has 360 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Pre ships an update every 6 months, Fraction for Beginners every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
