# FlipCards vs FlashCards

The clearest difference is ads: FlipCards at none against FlashCards's shown. FlipCards also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 12.0). FlashCards's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FlipCards sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and FlashCards sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FlashCards holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FlashCards has 52 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of FlipCards's written reviews are positive against 83% of FlashCards's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FlipCards ships an update every 3 months, FlashCards fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
