# FrameMagic vs PicFrame

The clearest difference is ads: FrameMagic at none against PicFrame's shown. FrameMagic also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). PicFrame's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FrameMagic sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and PicFrame sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PicFrame holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 890 and 1.4K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of FrameMagic's written reviews are positive against 55% of PicFrame's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FrameMagic ships an update every 5 days, PicFrame every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
