# Spelling Notebook vs Spelliful

The clearest difference is rating: Spelliful at 5.0 against Spelling Notebook's 4.6. Spelliful also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). Spelling Notebook's advantage is ratings volume (2.7K vs 7) and review sentiment (86% vs 67%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spelling Notebook sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Spelliful sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spelliful holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spelling Notebook has 2.7K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Spelling Notebook's written reviews are positive against 67% of Spelliful's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Spelling Notebook ships an update every 3 months, Spelliful every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
