# Spelling Notebook vs Things to Learn

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Spelling Notebook at 2.7K against Things to Learn's 18. Spelling Notebook also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 8 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spelling Notebook sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Things to Learn sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spelling Notebook holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spelling Notebook has 2.7K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Spelling Notebook's written reviews are positive against 90% of Things to Learn's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Spelling Notebook ships an update every 3 months, Things to Learn every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
