# mail.com vs IONOS

The clearest difference is review sentiment: mail.com at 76% against IONOS's 31%. mail.com also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). IONOS's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and ads (none vs shown). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. mail.com sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. IONOS asks for nothing beyond the download.

mail.com holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mail.com has 105K ratings behind it against 15K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 76% of mail.com's written reviews are positive against 31% of IONOS's.

mail.com ships an update fortnightly, IONOS monthly. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
