# PDF vs Mach Write

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mach Write at 46% against PDF's 0%. PDF's advantage is rating (2.0 vs 1.0) and in-app purchases (none vs 1). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mach Write sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. PDF asks for nothing beyond the download.

PDF holds the better App Store score, 2.0 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of PDF's written reviews are positive against 46% of Mach Write's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF ships an update every 5 months, Mach Write every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
