# Kata++ vs Movements Karate

The clearest difference is ads: Kata++ at none against Movements Karate's shown. Kata++ also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Movements Karate's advantage is review sentiment (89% vs 69%) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Kata++ sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Movements Karate sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Kata++ holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Movements Karate has 36 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Kata++'s written reviews are positive against 89% of Movements Karate's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Kata++ ships an update every 6 months, Movements Karate every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
