# New Text Tones vs Texter

The clearest difference is rating: Texter at 4.6 against New Text Tones's 4.1. New Text Tones's advantage is review sentiment (53% vs 21%) and ratings volume (5.4K vs 1.2K). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. New Text Tones sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Texter sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Texter holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5.4K and 1.2K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of New Text Tones's written reviews are positive against 21% of Texter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

New Text Tones ships an update every 2 months, Texter monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
