# NHL vs The Record Fire & Ice

NHL and The Record Fire & Ice both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 69% of The Record Fire & Ice's written reviews are positive against 35% of NHL's. NHL's advantage is ratings volume (135K vs 269) and chart position (#85 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NHL sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and The Record Fire & Ice sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NHL holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NHL has 135K ratings behind it against 269, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of NHL's written reviews are positive against 69% of The Record Fire & Ice's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NHL ships an update fortnightly, The Record Fire & Ice monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
