# Emoticon Dictionary vs Mytter

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Emoticon Dictionary at none against Mytter's 1. Emoticon Dictionary also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (2.1K vs 27). Mytter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mytter sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Emoticon Dictionary asks for nothing beyond the download.

Emoticon Dictionary holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Emoticon Dictionary has 2.1K ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Emoticon Dictionary's written reviews are positive against 87% of Mytter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Emoticon Dictionary ships an update every 3 months, Mytter monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
