# Othello vs Othello Multiplayer

The clearest difference is rating: Othello at 4.5 against Othello Multiplayer's 3.2. Othello also leads on ratings volume (8.5K vs 10) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 10 months). Othello Multiplayer's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (48% vs 39%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Othello sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Othello Multiplayer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Othello holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Othello has 8.5K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of Othello's written reviews are positive against 48% of Othello Multiplayer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Othello ships an update every 3 months, Othello Multiplayer every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
