# DStv Stream vs RoverApp

The clearest difference is rating: RoverApp at 5.0 against DStv Stream's 4.5. RoverApp also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). DStv Stream's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

RoverApp holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DStv Stream has 11K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
