# Times Union vs Poughkeepsie Journal

The clearest difference is monetization model: Poughkeepsie Journal at free with in-app purchases against Times Union's subscription. Times Union's advantage is ratings volume (5.5K vs 593) and chart position (#71 vs unranked). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Times Union sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Poughkeepsie Journal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Times Union holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Times Union has 5.5K ratings behind it against 593, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 47% of Times Union's written reviews are positive against 43% of Poughkeepsie Journal's.

Times Union ships an update fortnightly, Poughkeepsie Journal monthly. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
