# Math. vs MathPapa

The clearest difference is monetization model: MathPapa at freemium against Math.'s subscription. MathPapa also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (17K vs 1.7K). Math.'s advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Math. sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and MathPapa sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Math. against 4.7 for MathPapa. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MathPapa has 17K ratings behind it against 1.7K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of Math.'s written reviews are positive against 78% of MathPapa's.

Math. ships an update every 3 months, MathPapa every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
