# Math. vs MathNotes

Math. and MathNotes both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 74% of Math.'s written reviews are positive against 33% of MathNotes's. Math. also leads on ratings volume (1.6K vs 51) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). MathNotes's advantage is monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Math. sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and MathNotes sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Math. against 4.7 for MathNotes. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Math. has 1.6K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of Math.'s written reviews are positive against 33% of MathNotes's.

Math. ships an update every 3 months, MathNotes every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
